';Olive';Oil: If I put crushed oil-cured olives into pure olive oil, will I get a more powerful olive taste?

I am looking to make flavored vinegars and oils.

Any directions, or tips, or favorite combinations will be much appreciated.';Olive';Oil: If I put crushed oil-cured olives into pure olive oil, will I get a more powerful olive taste?
no...i dont think so...

if you crush the oilves n get out the oil n then mix it in i think it did have some taste to it.

This is how i make flavored oils...

Chilli oil

1 whole bottle of crushed red pepper flakes. that abt 3/4 cup

2 cups of good extra virgin olive oil.

Take a good non stick pan...put in on medium....n pour the 2 cups of olive oil in it....let it all heat up for abt 5 mins...then reduce the flame to the lowest temp...n add the chilli pepper flakes in it...n let it simmer in the oil for another 5 mins....then turn off the flame n let the oil cool down to normal temp...this will take like 30 min or so...then drain n store the oil. The idea is to get the heat or the chilli n color...not to fry it in.

I do the same procedure for all ingredients so you can substitue the red pepper flakes n put in other stuff as below.

I always use DRY flavoring ingedients....hence instead of a fresh garlic i slice the garlic n let it air dry in the sun (Its hot here in Texas) n use it, same for thyme, rosemary.

For basil i use the basil powder. treat all these flavouring ingredients the same way.

Here are other flavored oils i make:

Basil Oil: 3/4 cup Basil + 2 cups olive oil

2 tbsp each of garlic flakes, chilli pepper flakes, thyme, rosemary, crushed pepper + 2 cups olive oil

you can make zillion combinations.

Get good quality ingredients....it make a whole lot of difference......

Enjoy!';Olive';Oil: If I put crushed oil-cured olives into pure olive oil, will I get a more powerful olive taste?
that's sounds very yummy!

I think the combination of a red olive, or purple in with your EVOO Extra Virgin Olive Oil will be very tasty.

Many food stores have the salad bar by their Deli where you can pick up the different types of olives. I think a blend of those, mixed with the oil would be great. With maybe a little Balsamic Vinegar if you like.
