Can I subsitute Veggie oil for olive oil?

Want to make a pasta salad that calls for using olive oil, I only have veggie oil, can i Subsitute? Can I subsitute Veggie oil for olive oil?
Yes, it would be fine to substitute. Can I subsitute Veggie oil for olive oil?
PLEASE DON'T! Vegetable Oil is good for cooking, but when you're eating it, you want Olive oil. They are NOT the same. And I also recommend when actually using in a dish rather than cooking, you use Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Miz D hit the nail on the head... the flavor will just not be as full, but it will be fine. You might want to try some other oils in dressings, too... after you have a chance to shop. I LOOOVE to use 1/3 olive oil and 2/3 parts of walnut oil when I make balsamic vinaigrette dressing... YOWZA !!! The walnut oil is kinda' expensive, but if you eat a lot of pasta and green salads, it is a great investment. Store it in your fridge to keep it fresh lots longer than if you kept it in the cupboard, and just let it come to room temp just before mixing it with something else for dressing.
Everyone is right. How is that possible?

Here's the key: taste it (always good advice when you cook)

I mean pour a teaspoon full and swirl it around in your mouth. If you like the flavor, you'll like it on your pasta. If not, not.

It probably won't have much flavor, but you certainly don't want to ruin your pasta if it's oxidized. So the other part of the answer is what flavors the pasta salad does have that will make up for bland oil. Adding a little mayo might help, too.

Next store run, though, get some extra virgin olive oil. It's a staple you should have on hand.
Yes, you can use vegetable oil but it won't have the good flavor of olive oil. The texture will be the same but you may need to add some extra seasoning to your pasta salad.

I've used Italian salad dressing on a pasta salad when I was out of olive oil and it tasted really good.
Certainly, you can pretty much substitute any edible oil for olive oil. The taste will vary slightly, but if you don't use extra virgin olive oil, you may not even notice the difference.
Not recommended.,taste will completely change with that recipe.
an olive is a vegetable so i wouldn't see why not. Just make a small batch and it you like it go full size.
