Is olive oil or butter better to make muffins?

i dont have veg oil but need to go home and make the muffins for a bday party right away after work. and i dont have time to get the oil @the supermarket right now because im at work. can i substitute the veg. oil with extra light olive oil or 1 stick of butter? which one is better? Is olive oil or butter better to make muffins?
I would go for butter because olive oil has a flavor of its own. Might be weird esp. if your making sweet muffins. Just melt the butter and use the same amount that it called for oil. Should be fine.Is olive oil or butter better to make muffins?
hi there! I'm sure you could go either way! I live in Greece and have made several sweets that call for olive oil and they always come out great. have a look here at this website or if you want to use butter just type in the search box ';muffins with butter'; and see what you get.

Too bad you don't know the muffin man, you could just get your muffins from him! ;-)

happy muffin making!
Do NOT use olive oil- it will give your muffins a funky flavor. Try substituting the same omount of applesauce for the oil. I do that a lot, and it tastes great. Or you can use canned pumpkin (not the pie mix)...this does change the color though, but it adds moisture and lots of nutrients!
I would go with butter. the olive oil may alter the flavor of the cupcakes to much.
J, yes you can, and it will not affect the flavor of the muffin.
