Is store brand xtra virgin olive oil just as good as the other brands?

No, firstly many companies lie. They will add other oils in the Olive Oil so be careful. If you have a chance try buying some from an olive farm, The taste is totally different when it is fresh Olive Oil. Try to remember Olive Oils bought in the stores may have been sitting on the shelf for sometime. We have a farm when the olives are first pressed the color is a golden color. The taste is one thousand times better then processed Olive Oil.Is store brand xtra virgin olive oil just as good as the other brands?
For most of your cooking needs, go for the store brand. You'll save yourself a lot of money. Especially if you're just switching over from cooking entirely with vegetable oil, the prices of olive oils can be ridiculously high.

What I suggest you do though, is spend some money in a nice DARK oil bottle. As stated by another person, light will quickly destroy a good olive oil.

I was lucky enough to get a free large bottle of a very fancy imported olive oil. When that ran out, I just went to the local supermarket and purchased the store brand and poured it into this nice dark bottle (with a fancy spout!) Nobody has yet to notice the difference! ;-)

Just be sure to always purchase extra virgin when it comes to olive oil.Is store brand xtra virgin olive oil just as good as the other brands?
Yes, store brand is just as good as the name brands, you could even check out the ingredients. In most cases, the ingredients are just about the same.

Remember, the lighter the color of the oil, the healthier it is, because it has been filtered more. So when buying olive oil, try to buy extra extra virgin olive oil.
It really depends on what you are using the EVOO fpr. If you are using it for salad dressings and marinades, then yes. If you are using it as a drizzle on something like Insalata Caprese or to dip bread in get a really good one. The world of difference is amazing. Make sure it is a first pressing cold-pressed EVOO. You pay more for it but it is well worth the price difference. Check out a gourmet foods store to see if they offer tastings of OO's.
Yes. The brand named manufacturers also make and bottle the store brands.
also be sure to buy oil in containers that do not allow light, light quickly destroys it's properties
My experiences have been favorable.
