How do you remove olive oil from a carpet?

A bottle of olive oil broke and spilled on carpeting covering stairs. Tried a small carpet cleaner to no avail. Can't seem to soak up the oil no less remove the stain. Any suggestions?How do you remove olive oil from a carpet?

Dawn dish detergent may work...a little goes a long way for carpet. When my kids spill something like that on my carpet I use my steam cleaner with a little bit of dawn in the wash water then rinse well with a little bit of vinegar in the rinse water to neutralize the detergent... You could try some type of degreasing product like Mean Green or something like that, just make sure you get the cleaner out of your carpet well or the spot will continually attract dirt...
DO NOT USE DISH WASHING SOAP!!!! It requires rinsing which will only push the stain into you pad and then it will keep coming back no matter how many times you clean it!!!





Use SPOT SHOT carpet cleaner. It is the best thing I have ever found. I have used it to clean everything from vomit, blood and pee to make-up and grease. The stuff is amazing.





You can also use it on your closthes.





But if you spilled a whole bottle - be prepared to buy a few cans to get the job done.





Also, if you have Berber carpet your best bet is to call a professional carpet cleaners, but let them know ahead of time what the stain is so that they can properly clean it.

with a tablespoon of baking powder and a small drop of warm water . Pour the the liquid over the stain leave for 10 min麓s then with a sponge %26amp; warm water wipe, work your inwards of the stain so it does麓nt spread further . Then use some of your own hair shampoo again with a sponge ,I suggest you don麓t use a brush as this only brakes the fibers in the carpet.So once you have rinsed the soap off, %26amp; your happy the stain has been removed lay a towel on the wet patch and a heavy object on top. This will help dry up any remaing water from the underside of the carpet . More the sure this area will have to be sponged again at a later date ,as sooner or later the water stain always reaches the surface
