I am going to dinner tonight and need to decide what type of sauce to order for my pasta. I am looking for light, and low calorie. What is the best option out of olive oil and garlic, pesto, and red sauce? Is an Olive oil and Garlic sauce a healthy option for pasta?
HOLD ON!!!
Olive oil, while a GREAT heart healthy way to go, has 110 calories per TABLESPOON........3 tablespoons is going to throw off your diet, WAY off.....
Is there another alternative besides a pasta dish that you can have??
A broth based soup and salad with the dressing ON THE SIDE so you can portion control it would be a great option: Restaurants these days are VERY savvy about customer's needs, you can even ask them to grill, say a chicken breast instead of covering it with a heavy calorie laden sauce...........Enjoy, and Happy Holidays.....

Hmmm... it just depends upon how much oil is used in the olive oil/garlic and pesto. As Christopher K correctly points out... oil is 110/120 calories per tablespoon and can throw you off your diet.
I would think a marinara (meatless tomato) sauce is a better way to go, but again, it depends upon how the restaurant makes the sauce. My reasoning is that marinara is made in large batches so the oil used is split into many servings... while olive oil and garlic is made per order so you end up with a full dose of oil per serving.
Is the red sauce some type of tomato sauce? Well, they麓re usually not that heavy.
Pesto is really high in calorie (for it contains a lot of oil), but quite healthy.
Olive oil and garlic is healthy and tasty but far from low calorie!!
Anyway, if this is just one day of your diet on which you indulge, it won麓t ruin it completely. At least you make healthy choices that you enjoy, and that麓s totally worth it.
yeah, the olive oil throws the diet off. the pesto would probably have olive oil too. probably the red sauce is the best of the choices you named. course, if you're really that worried about your diet, you shouldn't be eating pasta anyway.
well, anything with olive oil is healthier and lower in fat and calories, but pasta is one of the most starchy foods and starch is fat and calories.
Olive oil and Garlic Sauce way lighter that the pesto and red sauce but if you want to live a little go with the red sauce and pesto LOL....I guess I didn't help much did I? LOL
I'd go for the olive oil %26amp; garlic.
yeah
