How do I get olive oil stain off a cotton shirt?

I've washed it several times and I've put baking soda on the stain but the stain is still there. The baking soda took the color out of my shirt. Not a good idea.How do I get olive oil stain off a cotton shirt?

If you ever have an oil or grease stain the best removal I have ever found out of ANY material was using dish soap. A good dishsoap like Dawn..or Palmolive. Take and put a good amount on the stain add just a bit of water and take an old toothbrush and work it in, using a circular motion. Let it sit for about 30 minutes before washing. Wash in warm water if you can. Repeat until its gone.


This works because dishsoap is made to take grease and oil off dishes..it has agents in it to break up these things.


Having 3 boys who love Italian food..this has been a life saver.


Although I will warn you if you have dried your shirt it make take some doing to get the stain out.


Any stain becomes harder to remove if you dry the garment using a dryer. It then sets the stain, and is at its hardest to remove or next to impossible.
