Olive oil has a low smoking point and is not recommended for deep frying. If you want make some french fries, try this: Cut up some Russet potatoes into wedges. Spray with olive oil and season with some salt. Preheat oven to 450. Place potatoes on a metal baking pan, cookie sheet will work, and bake until tender. Try preheating the tray before placing the potatoes, this will make for crispier potatoes. Is it possible to use olive oil in a deep fryer?
Peanut oil is best for deep frying. But oven fries are really good! If the oil coats the potatoes evenly (doesn't take much), they will blister up and be crispy and good! Report Abuse
yes the smoke point of olive oil is to low but if you par cook the fries by boiling or steaming you will be able to fry them in the oven as described by your favorite choice but I highly doubt that cooking olive oil in a 450 degree oven will work to fry potatoes enough with out the oil burning Report Abuse
olive oil is good for your hair wash hair with honey rinse well
add olive oil to hair lv on with towel rap great for sunning rinse out wash split ends gone and healed, and shiney healthey hair Report Abuse
to cook frie pre heat oven on high temp/ add fries on cookie sheet to brown after cooking light broil/sister marilyn Report Abuse
yes..but might i suggest Peanut oil instead..it has No flavor..and will maintain the same temperature that olive oil will...and has all the same nutirents as olive oil does...and is cheaper
I just think its a waste of good olive oil.
Please..think Peanut oil.
Probably shouldn't use it alone. IIRC, Olive oil has a low smoke point. You might mix with canola oil, or try the oven.
Extra virgin has a tendency to burn. All grades will lose flavor when heated. Use Olive oil grade/ Watch the temperature, 410 F max. You could try canola oil.
no, it has too low of a flash point and with smoke and burn
Peanut oil has a high fat content. Try canola.
Well I wouldn't advise you to deep fry anything in Olive oil. Fry maybe, but not deep fry (that takes a lot of oil) and I say this simply b/c olive oil burns fast and the potatoes will soak up a lot of grease...it just wouldn't work!! Try cutting the potatoes and then baking them on a cookie sheet. That would seem to work better or just steam them in a little Olive oil and water. I can just picture a Huge Vat of grease (olive oil that is) burning up and smoking up the house (smoke alarms going off)....lol and the whole thing being a big mess on top of wasting (that's not he cheapest oil)!!! Anyway have fun and Good Luck!!!
Yes, you can deep fry with olive oil, but it will give off a smell you probably won't be used to. It's not bad, olive oil just has a smell to it.
Olive oil is expensive.
Why don't you bake the potatoes instead of fry them? (I don't mean baked potatoes, I mean cut like fries and then baked instead)
yes you can...its one of the best
Olive oil has a tendency to burn in extreme heat, try peanut oil,it is excellent for deep frying.:)
I don't believe so, because I think it has a low smoking temp. which means it can't get to the proper temp. you can use penut oil or any oil for that matter just keep the temp around 370-380 degrees and they shouldn't be greesey, when the temp is low is when it starts soaking up oil! you could almost saute them in a pan and bake them in the oven to finish them, I've never done that but hey try it!
Why not put the potatoes on a baking sheet coat with olive oil and bake at 425 degrees until crisp? I even toss some spices on top for extra flavor. They're yummy!
Forget the deep fryer. That's a lot of oil to dump down the drain and olive oil is expensive!
They'd still have a ton of fat, and so wouldn't be too good on the diet. You could cut up the potatos and toss them witha couple tablespoons of oil and roast them in the oven rather than frying them. Not the same result, but they're really quite good.
Olive oil isn't recommended for deep frying because it smokes at a lower temperature than canola or peanut oils...
you can but olive oil tends to smoke really bad. they suggest a good veggie oil
Why not bake them w/ some seasoning on them with a little olive oil?
